Album Review: Holy Hell (2005)

For fans of: power metal... and huge improvements

Rob Rock - Holy HellThe first song on this album is better than the entirety of Rob Rock's previous release. And so is the second, and the third, and the fourth... You get the idea.

Where Eyes Of Eternity was an album of characterless noise, Holy Hell is a properly executed exercise in the art of rock. These songs have variation, memorable choruses, and a high likeability factor. 'I'm A Warrior' (originally sung by Rob when he was with Impellitteri) and 'Slayer Of Souls' are the top tunes, although the title track might have something to say about that.

Much, much better than the previous release, this is a genuinely excellent album. Applause!

Check out... That riff in 'I'm A Warrior'. It makes you want to don leather and let rip on an air guitar. Oh, and have a listen to Abba cover 'Move On'. It sounds just like a cheesy Eurovision entry, although sadly it's bloody good.
