Album Review: Phoenix (2006)
For fans of: power metal... and keyboard solos
Phoenix by Saidian is a keyboard driven melodic metal album with a lot to like. This is not an album that will stick in your mind or even find a permanent place in your heart, but it may creep into you soul and demand a listen every now and then.
With hints of Europe in their hair metal days but considerably heavier, the songs are very musical. Markus Engelfried isn't a patch on Joey Tempest, however his voice works well with this album and gives the tracks urgency rather than beauty.
A fine listen, although not a classic, Phoenix has a couple of brilliant moments and numerous good ones. Worth a punt for fans of speedy Scandinavian melodic metal.
Check out... 'State Of Euphoria'. Very, very, catchy chorus.
