Album Review: Lionheart (2004)

For fans of: heavy metal... and Saxon going all heavy on our a*ses

Saxon - LionheartSaxon have been performing live for over three hundred years. Allegedly. They have certainly been round the block a few times. So the fact they can still pump out music like this is brilliant.

The title track is sensational and so catchy it'll make you pinch yourself to check you're awake. The star of the show however is 'Justice'. Anyone who knows Saxon from their early days won't recognise them now. This is serious metal with riffs that'll dine on your heart and double kick drums made by Gattling.

A monstrously heavy album with impeccable production and melodies you'll want to seduce and marry, Lionheart is a showcase of proper metal played the old way. On this evidence modern 'rock' bands can kiss Saxon's a*se.

Check out... That bass guitar and kick drum assault in 'Justice'. It'll give you the horn, even if you're female.
