Album Review: Skid Row (Self Titled) (1989)

For fans of: hard rock... and annoyingly good debut albums

Skid Row - Skid RowDebut album from Skid Row, this eponymous release is crammed full of awesome hard rock songs. Harder edged and considerably more intelligent sounding than their peers, Skid Row were a cut above the rest the moment this album was unleashed.

The top tracks are '18 and Life' and 'Youth Gone Wild', but there really isn't anything bad here. The whole album rocks with a passion you can feel and every last note sounds perfectly positioned. There's a barrow load of spunk in the songwriting and the lyrics have a controlled angst that, unusually, doesn't p*ss you off.

A genius release. Surely one of the best moments in late eighties rock. Essential.

Check out... The whole thing. It's THAT good.
