Album Review: Subhuman Race (1995)
For fans of: alternative metal... and rock with hints of grunge
3rd Skid Row album and the last to feature the vocal talents of Sebastian Bach, Subhuman Race is a change of style for the band. Gone are the soaring melodies and ear-friendly rhythms to be replaced by a more dirty, under produced vibe.
The songs are still catchy but in something of an inaccessible way. This is an album you have to work to like, and to be honest it's barely worth the effort. A couple of tunes rise above the others, but not far enough to catch your attention for long.
Apparently some people rate this as the best Skid Row album. I don't see it at all. To my ears it's a thorough disappointment and should be buried somewhere quiet.
Check out... The first two Skid Row albums, not this one.
