Album Review: Vol.3:(The Subliminal Verses) (2004)
For fans of: alternative metal... and songs with titles containing the word maggots
3rd album for American granny-worriers Slipknot, Vol.3:(The Subliminal Verses) may have a mouthful of a title but what of the content?
Well... The sound is toned down from Iowa with considerably less power in the guitar attack. The mix has much more of an 'alternative' edge and less of that raw beauty that made the second album so sublime. There are numerous good tracks and catchy motifs along the way and the overall vibe is more experimental than previous.
Still a country mile better than their debut, Vol.3:(The Subliminal Verses) is not as good as Iowa. There's enough to recommend to fans of the genre and you could do a lot worse than check it out.
Check out... The inaccessible commerciality of 'Duality'. Good and scary in equal measures.
