Album Review: World Play (2005)

For fans of: hard rock... and bloody good musicians jamming for pleasure

Soul SirkUS - World PlaySoul SirkUS is project featuring Journey guitarist Neal Schon, vocalist Jeff Scott Soto, Whitesnake's Marco Mendoza on bass and drummer Virgil Donati. For details on how the project came about, see here.

Overall this is a fairly average collection of songs by some very non-average musicians. There is almost nothing terrible on the album (see the check out section), but little of it will excite you in the ways of the flesh. 'Periled Divide' is great, 'Coming Home' is a nice journey-esque ballad and 'Another World' will blow your mind... but that's about it.

This is one of those albums that many people will love and many will dismiss. Sadly I am in the second camp. Apart from the songs mentioned above it does nothing for me at all.

Check out... 'Abailor To' Mundo'. Possibly one of the most annoying things ever committed to record. Sounds like someone with phlegm doing bad beat boxing. Arghhh!
