Album Review: Back To Life (2011)
For fans of: Hard Rock
Italian band Soul Seller was started in 1999 by brothers Mirko and Dave Zublena. Their first self-released album "Underground Freedom" followed a year later, and that in turn was followed by a couple of EPs. "Back To Life" is the band's first label-released LP and sees none other than Alessandro Del Vecchio (Edge of Forever, Eden's Curse) on production.
The sound is bright sparkling hard rock with a definite nod to 1980s glam. The album is feel good throughout, offering a real upbeat vibe; even through the ballads. The performances are all good, with nothing outstanding and nothing that grates. Michael Carrata has a sweet voice, though he's never going to challenge the likes of David Coverdale or Joey Tempest.
The songs are much the same as the performances, meaning really enjoyable hooks and memorable choruses. In fact this is a damned hard album to say anything negative about.
In Summation:
This is not a game-changing album, but it's very likeable indeed and does a huge amount of stuff right. Worth a punt if you like upbeat rock.
