Album Review: Second Hand Life (2007)

For fans of: hard rock... and anything else JLT has recorded

Joe Lynn Turner - Second Hand LifeListening to Second Hand Life is like taking a journey through Joe Lynn Turner's career. There are so many pointers to past projects you often wonder what you're listening to.

'Got Me Where You Want Me' is a mystical song with a huge and hugely memorable chorus. The title track is the other way round. The verses are massive, then it goes quiet and mystical in the chorus. 'In You Eyes' is the big ballad and a match for anything JLT has recorded before. The album then rummages through the sounds of Rainbow, Deep Purple and Brazen Abbot before finishing strongly with 'Two Lights'.

Second Hand Life has a lot to like but lacks the final few great songs. There's no doubt however that this is a well produced, beautifully performed album.

Check out... 'Two Lights', although only if you come from Europe as it's the local bonus track.
