Album Review: Deggial (2000)

For fans of: symphonic metal... and rock versions of Carl Orff compositions

Therion - DeggialTherion are an unusual creature. They take rock, metal, opera and classical music and fuse it into one. The result is quite extraordinary, and also more nutty than a cashew plantation.

This is one of those genres you will either get or you won't. The concept of opera done metal style is as bonkers as it sounds. There's no denying the members of Therion are a talented bunch of guys and girls, but whether this is an album you'd want to buy to is up for debate.

Deggial is not an easy listen but then it isn't supposed to be. Therion are going for a specific market with a specific sound. What they do is great even if you, I and most other people really won't and don't get it.

Check out... 'O Fortuna'. Old Spice never smelled so good.
