Album Review: TMG 1 (2004)
For fans of: hard rock... and proof the Japanese can play rock as well as listen to it
Tak Matsumoto Group is one of those dream projects where a load of hugely talented musicians get together and make some simply brilliant music. TMG features Night Ranger bass player Jack Blades, Mr Big singer Eric Martin, the world's busiest drummer Brian Tichy and the Japanese Guitarist Tak Matsumoto.
The sound is melodic yet heavy with hints of jazz, dance and electro. The overriding feel is of beautifully crafted hard rock performed by masters of their professions.
TMG 1 is arguably the best album any of these guys have worked on. Not wishing to belittle their previous projects in any way, but this album is simply stunning.
