Album Review: Gods Of Thunder: A Norwegian Tribute To Kiss (2005)
For fans of: rock covers... and Kiss
A random release but fairly good nonetheless, as the title suggests this is a selection of Kiss songs re-recorded by (mostly) Norwegian artists.
The quality varies from the astonishingly brilliant and arguably better than the original 'I Was Made For Loving You', 'Sure Know Something', 'I Just Wanna' and 'Uh! All Night' to the pretty awful 'Parasite', 'Shout It Out Loud', 'Mr Blackwell' and 'Strange Ways'. Somewhere off to one side is the none-rocking but excellent Kurt Nilson version of 'Crazy Crazy Nights'. It's possibly the best track on the album, but as this is a rock site we'll roar our disapproval at it. Roar!
Overall, Gods Of Thunder: A Norwegian Tribute To Kiss is hit and miss. It has its majestic moments but also ones that make you want to shove cheese in your ears.
Check out... 'Crazy Crazy Nights' by Kurt Nilsen. Weird but brilliant.
