Album Review: Vindictiv (Self Titled) (2008)
For fans of: prog metal... and songs about toilets and teacups
God this album has a good sound! There's a bit of Dream Theater prog magic in the background. The foreground flits between Yngwie Malmsteen flamboyance, melodic power metal and pure hard rock.
Vocalist Göran Edman (who worked with Yngwie Malmsteen in the early 90's) sounds sensational. His tone suits the record perfectly and gives it something of a leftfield sound. Normally, unusual experimental sounding records are bloody awful. This one works perfectly. Guitarist Stefan Lindholm deserves special mention too. His finger-work is out of this world.
A few of the songs are not as catchy as you might like, but overall this is still a must-buy release.
Check out... The epic 'Fata Morgana'. Loving that storm in a teacup!
