Album Review: Bloodwork EP (2009)

For fans of: alternative metal... and something a little less time consuming

WEDNESDAY 13 - Bloodwork EPWednesday 13 does his best work when he's doing it live. That feeling was rammed home as soon as I heard the recent CD/DVD release, F**k It, We'll Do It Live. The Bloodwork EP does little to change my opinion.

The songs contained within are all perfectly agreeable, but they don't hold a candle to the carpet bombing sensations you get from his stage show. Where is the danger? Where is the fire? When I listen to Wednesday 13, I want there to be a small chance I might die.

This music should all be about the adrenaline, the horror pouring from your speakers and the hysteric feedback from the crowd. W13 sounds stifled on this release when he really needs unleashing. 'B-Movie Babylon', 'Return Of The Living Dead' and the Tom Petty cover 'Runnin` Down A Dream' are all fine tracks, but they just don't sound as good as when they're being belted out on a stage.

Bloodwork is merely okay. Buy it if you want - you probably will enjoy it - but I would suggest you buy the live CD instead. It's a hundred times better than this. In fact it's a hundred times better than most releases!

Check out... The recent live CD instead.
