Album Review: Cherry Pie (1990)

For fans of: hard rock... and fun songs about fruit/pastry combinations

Warrant - Cherry Pie2nd album from Hollywood band Warrant, Cherry Pie starts with the well-known title track (apparently written in 15 minutes, according to legend). The best track however is 'Uncle Tom's Cabin', a great story telling epic with more depth than you expect.

The style is like that of Poison, although more grown up and with considerably better musicianship. Imagine a less heavy Motley Crue without as much sleaze and you'll be there. The fun factor remains throughout the album and, save the odd ballad, carries the music along at a fair old pace.

Cherry Pie is shallow in places but it's a good album nonetheless. Jani Lane has one of the clearest voices of the hair metal bands and this is a fine demonstration of his abilities.

Check out... 'Ode to Tipper Gore'. How rude! Good call though.
