Album Review: Good To Be Bad (2008)
For fans of: hard rock... and pretty decent comeback albums
Good To Be Bad is almost Whitesnake's first new studio album for nineteen years. I say almost because they released Restless Heart in 1997, but that isn't really considered a proper Whitesnake album, more a David Coverdale solo project.
Sound-wise Good To Be Bad is a mixture of blues rock and hard rock with a soupçon of modern metal. Coverdale is as loud and proud as ever and gives the record an unmistakable sound. The super-smooth ballad 'All I Want All I Need' is the best song, although 'Lay Down Your Love' with its catchy chorus and 'A Fool In Love' with a wonderful funk vibe get jolly close.
Good To Be Bad doesn't hit the highs of Whitesnake of old, but it is closer than you might imagine. Give it a few listens and you too may be pleasantly surprised.
Check out... The modern feel of 'Lay Down Your Love'. It makes Whitesnake sound thoroughly relevant.
