Album Review: Hard To Be A Rock 'n' Roller... In Kiev (2005)
For fans of: hard rock... and songs featured in the Eurovision song contest
Hmmm, a band from the Eurovision Song Contest on Rock Realms. What is the world coming to? Well, if the world is coming to Wig Wam it'll be very happy.
Never has the phrase 'breath of fresh air' been more appropriate. Wig Wam are to rock what the internet is to pornography. You wonder what it was like before. They do come across as something of a p*ss take, a bit like The Darkness on LSD, but there's no questioning the musicianship. The rhythm section is phenomenal, vocalist Glam (Åge Sten Nilsen) has such an emotive voice it hurts and guitarist Trond Holter is possibly the most underrated practitioner out there.
This is a brilliant album packed full of spunky feel good songs that'll have you prancing around your house like a crazy thing. Even the cover of ex-Spice Girls' Mel C song 'I turn To You' is great. Glam rock doesn't get much better than this.
Check out... 'Erection'. It's like Eruption, only with a better name.
