Album Review: In The Heart Of The Young (1990)

For fans of: hard rock... and very catchy pop rock anthems

Winger - In The Heart Of The YoungIn The Heart Of The Young is a spunky pop rock album in the vein of early Bon Jovi, Dokken and Def Leppard. Featuring vocalist and bass player Kip Winger, guitarist Reb Beach, plus Rod Morgenstein and Paul Taylor on drums and rhythm guitar/keyboards respectively, Winger's musical talent is beyond question.

The songs themselves vary from the good to the amazing. At least half the tracks would grace any 80's/early 90's rock compilation. The second half of the album is perhaps not up to the standards of the first, but it ain't too far off.

This is a top collection of fun and emotionally charged tracks. It may be a little wet and obvious for some people, and the rap section in 'Baptized By Fire' is thoroughly odd, but overall there's much to love.

Check out... The funky string twiddling at the start of 'Baptized By Fire'.
