EP Review: With One Last Breath EP (self-titled) (2011)

For fans of: Metal

With One Last Breath - With One Last Breath EP (self-titled)York, UK, band With One Last Breath have produced a mixed bag with this debut self-titled EP. On one hand they make a ton of impressive noises with their instruments - there's no doubt these boys can play! On the other the songs are not that contagious/memorable, and the vocals (though epic in their approach) are ultimately nothing special.

It's a shame because there's plenty of power and punch in those guitars, and the rhythms are thunderous enough to make a Scandinavian God smile. If you can focus your ears purely towards the instrumental side of the album, and if you can forget about the songs as a whole and concentrate second-by-second on the moment, it kind of works.

'I Taste The Poison' gets closest to being good but, ultimately, this is an album guided by it's performances, not it's songs.
