Album Review: The Heart Of Everything (2007)
For fans of: symphonic metal... and songs featuring Keith Caputo
The Heart Of Everything is the 4th album by Within Temptation. Unlike their previous release this album features individually excellent songs as well as a strong overall vibe. The sound is more hard punching and Sharon Den Adel sounds much more like a rock b*tch than a stage diva.
The fantasy element remains but it's pushed further back in the mix. There's more straight ahead rock and metal this time and the music is all the better for it. The technical, semi-prog nature is heightened giving an impressive dynamic edge to the sound.
Quite different to their 3rd album, The Heart Of Everything gives a Within Temptation a definite classic album. This is music you can listen to without needing pointed ears, a magic ring and hairy feet. For that we say thank you.
