Album Review: Astro-Creep:2000 (1995)
For fans of: alternative metal... and sound bites from old films
This is one of those bonkers albums you'll either love or hate. It has a strong personality that'll draw you in or p*ss you the hell off. The music is somewhere between groove metal and hardcore punk, but there are numerous samples, changes of direction and all-round aural shenanigans going on.
The songs are pretty catchy, although many of them are 'experiences' rather than mere songs. 'Electric Head pt. 1' and 'More Human Than A Human' are the best moments, but that's not to say the rest of the album is bad.
Two recommendations for this album. Firstly, buy it because it's great. Secondly, before you do so have a listen to a few of the tracks on YouTube. Astro-Creep:2000 is pure Marmite music.
Check out... The twisted fairground at the start of 'Grease Paint And Monkey Brains'.
