THE ROCK REALMS AWARDS 2009 - POWER/HEAVY METAL ALBUM

There weren't that many excellent power or heavy metal records this year, but when they were good they were very, very good.

Runners-Up are in no particular order.

WINNER: Saint Deamon - 'Pandeamonium'

Loved this album from the first moment I heard it. It's symphonic, majestic and mesmerising.
2ND: Primal Fear - '16.6 (Before The Devil Knows You’re Dead)'

Unlike the first place album, this one was a grower. Worth the effort though, it's a monster!
3RD: Herman Frank - 'Loyal To None'

Loud, lairy and stupendously good, this album will kick your ass...even if you don't own a donkey.
RUNNER-UP: Winterborn - 'Farewell To Saints'

This album would be good simply because it has 'The Land Of The Free' on it. Fortunately the rest is rather spiffing too.
RUNNER-UP: Impellitteri - 'Wicked Maiden'

My. Speedy is back with Mr. Voice. The result was always going to be good.
RUNNER-UP: Burning Point - 'Empyre'

This is a biblically huge album. You may need to hide behind the sofa when you hear it.
RUNNER-UP: Axxis - 'Utopia'

Is it heavy metal? Is it dance music? I'm still not sure. I know I like it though!
RUNNER-UP: Jorn - 'Spirit Black'

Contains a couple of absolutely stunning tracks and plenty of decent stuff to back them up. Not Jorn's finest release but still fab.
RUNNER-UP: Mystic Prophecy - 'Fireangel'

Any album that sounds like a cross between the apocalypse and Bruce Dickinson is okay in our books.
RUNNER-UP: Sanction X - 'The Last Day'

Epic. That's the only word you need for this release.
RUNNER-UP: Heavenly - 'Carpe Diem'

Mad. that's the only word you need for this one.
RUNNER-UP: U.D.O. - 'Dominator'

That bloke from Accept is back for another bite of the metal cherry. And what a splendid bite it is!
RUNNER-UP: Elysion - 'Silent Scream'

Greek female fronted rock in this list? Yep, why not. It deserves its place and deserves your ear time.
RUNNER-UP: Arthemis - 'Black Society'

Yeah, we like this one. Now you know.
RUNNER-UP: At Vance - 'Ride The Sky'

At Vance don't do bad albums. That's the law.
