THE ROCK REALMS AWARDS 2009 - SONG OF THE YEAR

Words cannot describe how long this list took to compile. Actually they can: f**kin' ages! Still, the winner has more than earned its place, and equally so have all the others. Was this a strong year for individual songs? I think so. Maybe not the best ever but you can't argue with the quality on display here.

Runners-Up are in no particular order.

WINNER: Danger Danger - 'Killin` Love'

Follows up its win in the hard rock section with the overall title. What a song!
2ND: Soul Doctor - 'Times Of Yesterday'

The best ballad of the year doesn't quite take top honours, but it got blooming close.
3RD: Saint Deamon - 'Pandeamonium'

So near top spot it's not true. Love this track!
4TH: Jorn - 'Rock 'N' Roll Angel'

This one could have stolen it too.
5TH: Constancia - 'Life Is A Mystery'

Here for the chorus which is by far and away the best of any track this year.
6TH: Winger - 'Supernova'

The chorus for this one ain't bad either...
7TH: The Wildhearts - 'Tim Smith'

A track that needs be heard by everyone on the planet. Seriously. It's that good.
8TH: Fair Warning - 'Hey Girl'

The 1st of three Fair Warning tracks in this list...
9TH: Primal Fear - 'Black Rain'

Now my favourite weather condition.
10TH: Place Vendome - 'My Guardian Angel'

So good it even got a video. Oh, and 10th place...
RUNNER-UP: Fair Warning - 'Falling'

Sometimes this becomes our favourite Fair Warning track, although minds do change frequently...
RUNNER-UP: W.E.T. - 'Comes Down Like Rain'

One of two W.E.T. tracks in the top list.
RUNNER-UP: Place Vendome - 'I'd Die For You'

Not sure I'd die for this song, but I'd probably hurt myself slightly.
RUNNER-UP: W.E.T. - 'Running From The Heartache'

The 2nd W.E.T. song. Which is better...?
RUNNER-UP: Mastedon - 'Nowhere Without Your Love'

Forget the Boston-isms. This is exceptional.
RUNNER-UP: Howard Leese - 'Heal The Broken Hearted'

Takes you back to a time when all music was this good.
RUNNER-UP: Praying Mantis - 'Lonely Way Home'

They prayed. They got.
RUNNER-UP: At Vance - 'Fallin`'

For a song about going downwards this is a long way up in our estimation.
RUNNER-UP: Koritni - 'Tornado Dreaming'

We like songs that relate to the Wizard Of Oz. Just check out Elton John's 'Yellow Brick Road'...
RUNNER-UP: Fair Warning - 'Station To Station'

The best song about trains for yonks.
