THE ROCK REALMS AWARDS 2010 - BALLADS

The top two tracks were fighting for honours most of the year. In fact they were so good we almost had a joint winner. Then Mr. Allen and Mr. Lande came along in November and made it even more difficult. The fact some of the other songs on this list didn't win shows just how good the top ones are.

Runners-Up are in no particular order.

WINNER: Last Autumn's Dream - 'Jenny's Eyes'

Utterly beautiful. That is all.
2ND: Solution .45 - 'Lethean Tears'

No idea what this song is all about as the lyrics are quite mad, but the sound and vibe are simply off the scale epic.
3RD: Allen Lande - 'Copernicus'

Only came along towards the end of the year, and darn-well nearly took the title.
4TH: First Signal - 'Crazy'

It's kind of like a heavy rock version of Natalie Cole's 'Miss You Like Crazy', but so much more...
5TH: Pretty Maids - 'Breathless'

Wonderful, dreamy track with a big rocking backbone.
RUNNER-UP: Auras - 'Forever In Your Eyes'

As cheesy as a 1970s fondue but utterly brilliant. All worship at their feet.
RUNNER-UP: Unruly Child - 'You Don't Understand'

Awesome, very personal song with tear-jerking lyrics, a stripped back vibe, and even some sci-fi effects. What else could you want?
RUNNER-UP: Grand illusion - 'Never Find Her Alone'

Is there a more powerful singer out there? Probably not. Prepare to have your ears blown apart by the onslaught of love.
RUNNER-UP: Silent Call - 'Through The Endless Night'

With a bigger production job and a few tweaks this could have taken the top spot. Still, for imperfection it's seriously good!
RUNNER-UP: Loveblast - 'Lonely Winter'

Love that chorus!
RUNNER-UP: Perfect View - 'A Reason To Fight'

An old-school ballad; slower than a snail, more full of love than a freezer in a sperm bank.
RUNNER-UP: Bangalore Choir - 'Still Have A Song To Sing'

A metaphorical ballad, but a ballad nonetheless. And a damn good one at that.
RUNNER-UP: Dream Evil - 'The Ballad'

These guys are the masters of the slightly comedic power metal ballad, as this song proves perfectly.
RUNNER-UP: Newman - 'Forever'

We love Steve Newman, although not in that way. This song, however, we do love in that way. Oh yes!
RUNNER-UP: Salute - 'Your Servant Tonight'

A slow slutty track that'll have you buying those handcuffs and ball gag you've always dreamed of.
RUNNER-UP: Crazy Lixx - 'What Of Our Love'

Another of those songs which really captures the spirit of the 1980s. Cheesy, obvious, and totally unforgettable.
RUNNER-UP: Stan Bush - 'In My Life'

Stan is normally a good bet for a monster ballad, and his latest album proved that point very well indeed.
