To be honest 2010 wasn't quite as good as 2009 when it came to this category, but there were still a few absolute gems hidden amongst the also-rans. These are they...

Runners-Up are in no particular order.

WINNER: Treat - 'Paper Tiger'

This was looking good for the award right from the first time it blasted out from the stereo. If anything it sounds even better several months down the line.
2ND: Brian Howe - 'There's This girl'

The only other song that got truly close to taking the award. Genius.
3RD: First Signal - 'Yesterday's Rain'

Harry Hess clearly isn't missing Harem Scarem too much creatively when songs like this are still flowing out of his trap.
4TH: Crazy Lixx - 'Lock Up Your Daughter'

Good advice from the guys if they are ever in town. Think of it as a very informative public service announcement.
5TH: Issa - 'I'm Alive'

You will be feeling this way too after hearing this awesome song.
RUNNER-UP: Shylock - 'Damn Good'

Massive, massive chorus. great track.
RUNNER-UP: Bangalore Choir - 'Martyr'

Mr. Golden Voice and the boys back for their first album in about 60 years, and what a scorcher it is. This is arguably the best moment.
RUNNER-UP: Stratosphere - 'Streets Of Moscow'

Almost heading into prog ballad territory, but just about hard rocking enough to be here. Bloody good song either way.
RUNNER-UP: Eden - 'Lay Me Down'

Utterly contagious track that could possibly raise the dead with its enthusiasm.
RUNNER-UP: Crazy Lixx - 'Children Of The Cross'

Fancy a visit to the best of the late 1980s? This'll be for you. This would have probably charted 20+ years ago.
RUNNER-UP: Giant - 'Prisoner Of Love'

You can argue all day and night whether this band should still be called Giant, but you can't argue with songs that boast this much quality.
RUNNER-UP: Issa - 'How Will I Know'

She may not know, but we do. Issa is awesome.
RUNNER-UP: Pretty Maids - 'Little Drops Of Heaven'

A bit symphonic, a bit metal, all rock. Wonderful.
RUNNER-UP: Unruly Child - 'When Worlds Collide'

As smooth as the smoothest peanut butter smeared on a teflon slide, and just as splendid.
