JOHNNY GET THE GUN
Questions asked by Jon Wilde, added to Rock Realms 7th September 2011.
I last chatted to the Johnny Get The Gun guys in June 2010. They're such busy guys, it seemed like a good idea to repeat the experience and find out what they've been up to in the intervening 15 months.

Hi Guys, thanks for taking a moment to answer these questions. Hope you are well?
Jack: Yea we're great thanks, been very busy!
Jamie: Thanks for interviewing us again.
I last talked to you in June 2010, just before the release of an EP/mini album. How did it fair in terms of reception, sales and airplay?
Wayne: Well the EP we released last year was just to get our foot on the ground, which it did but our EP we released in Feb this year really gave us a boost in terms of fan base.
Jack: Yeah, our EP 'Never Far From What We Know' was our best work to date and in terms of reception was our best yet. We're really proud of it and hope the continue this the album.
You’ve got a single out soon and a new album on the way. Can you tell us about them?
Joe: Yeah the album is coming together well, we've been throwing a lot of new ideas around and it's sounding great.
Wayne: The single is taken from our last EP (Never Far From What We Know) and it's just to let people know we're still here.
Jack: The album is very honest, we're doing what we like. Just hope other people do! So far we've had great reaction from our fans when we've played new songs at our live shows.
How does the new work compare to your past songs? Is this evolution or revolution?
Wayne: We're always changing, we never try and write in a particular style, just what feels good at the time. That's what we've always done.
Jack: They're just developments of our previous work. We're improving and pushing ourselves more this time I feel, and I hope that will come across when we release it.
What did producer John Mitchell bring to your music? Is he working on the full album or just the single?
Joe: He really pushed us, made us get everything perfect and I think it shows.
Jack: We worked with him with this single and we will be recording the album with him as well. There's a great team of engineers there too and we just had a great time. They seemed to really believe in our music and that helps, they made the tracks sound awesome too. Best recording experience we've had, and we can't wait to get back.
You have a tour kicking off in October. What should fans expect?
Wayne: Our best performances yet! We're working hard on the stage set up up and the music.
Jack: We've nearly sold out most of the dates and we really want this to be the start of something special. It's our first headline tour and we're gonna make sure it's remembered.
Any shows in particular you are looking forward to?
Jamie: We're looking forward to all of them. Birmingham will be great cause we played our first sold out show there back in Feb.
Jack: London will be great cause it's our home show, but Birmingham and Manchester will be great cause last time we played Manchester we supported Ivyrise and had a great reception. We hope our show will be just as insane!
What comes after the tour? Is it all about getting the album finished?
Joe: Yeah record the album! and maybe write some new songs for it too, so hard work starts right after the tour.
What have been the highlights and lowlights of your musical life so far?
Wayne: Highlight for me was seeing our music video on Kerrang TV, growing up I watched that channel and to have my band on it was amazing, kinda a dream come true.
Jack: yea i agree with that, and headlining the downstairs garage and selling out the 02 Academy Birmingham was amazing. Also recording with a producer who recorded You Me At Six, Funeral For A Friend and Kids In Glass Houses was great.
Joe: I don't think we've had many lows so far, we had tough times in the early days but, we feel like we're going from strength to strength. You need to stay positive no matter what.
Any question you love being asked that I’ve missed? If so, what’s the answer?
Jamie: Haha we never get asked much, so i'm not sure.
What are you up to once you’ve finished answering these questions?
Jack: We're all going go-karting as part of Wayne's birthday. Should be fun!
Anything else you would like to mention?
Joe: Come see us on tour!! get your tickets from Ticketmaster hope to see you there!!
Wayne: If any fan has read this all thank you.
Thanks again to the guys for their time.
