WHEN WORDS FAIL
Questions asked by Jon Wilde, added to Rock Realms 7th November 2011.
Brit-Rockers When Words Fail release their brand new "Eyes On Everything" EP on Monday 12th December 2011, so we got in there early to find out more. Read on...
How did When Words Fail start, and what’s the history behind the various members?
WWF: Broady and DJ left an old band they were in and ended up sticking together to start a new band. They found the bassist Scott at the local bowling alley, then Jamie on drums through previous bands him and DJ were in, until finally recruiting main vocalist Will.
Who would you list as your main influences?
WWF: Funeral For A Friend, A Day To Remember, Deaf Havana, Story Of The Year.
How would you describe your sound to someone who hadn’t heard you before?
WWF: Catchy vocal lines, heavy hardcore beatdowns, melodic guitar riffs, and chunky bass lines. Something everybody can enjoy.
What’s the music scene in Swindon like for you guys? Has it helped or hindered your development?
WWF: We think its helped us because if you can get a crowd in Swindon you can get a crowd anywhere!
Your debut EP “Eyes On Everything” is coming out in December. What should potential purchasers expect? Sell it to us!
WWF: If you like singing in the shower at the top of your lungs or banging your head like a member of Megadeth this EP has it all. With screaming guitar riffs and heavy chugging eyes on everything is a release not to be missed!
What’s the meaning behind the title?
WWF: You can never trust anyone.
Do you do anything special in the studio to get your sound, or do you prefer to keep things simple?
WWF: We like to keep things simple so we can recreate the same thing live.
Do you enjoy the recording process or are you more into the live scene?
WWF: Both. We enjoy the recording process because we get the chance to really sit back and hear the song develop and when playing live we love to see the crowd's reaction.
What is one of your live shows like? Do you have many dates penciled in at the moment?
WWF: Our shows are lively, energetic and a full on party. At the moment we are playing 26th NOVEMBER, THE FURNACE, SWINDON, 2nd DECEMBER, 12 BAR, SWINDON, 3RD DECEMBER, THE CROWN, FARINGDON, 16TH DECEMBER, THE NET, ABBINGDON, 16TH FEBUARY, 12 BAR, SWINDON.
Do you already have plans for a full length album, or are you taking each day as it comes?
WWF: We are currently in the writing stage of a full length album.
Any question you love being asked that I’ve missed? If so, what’s the answer?
WWF: Nope pretty sure all has been covered.
What are you up to once you’ve finished answering these questions?
WWF: Partying hard!
Anything else you would like to mention?
WWF: We'd like to thank everyone who has helped us get to where we are at the moment, and were all excited to see what the future holds for us.
Thanks to the guys for their time.
