FEMALE FRONTED ROCK

Not enough female vocalists get the credit they deserve in rock, so this is Rock Realms' tribute to them. The songs are listed in no particular order... just in case you were wondering....

Heart
Alone (1987)

One of the songs that helped Heart compete head on with bands like Bon Jovi and Europe in the late 80's. Awesome.

Warlock
All We Are (1992)

A sledgehammer of a song from Doro's band. This is up there with the best rock sing along anthems of all time.

Robin Beck
Always (2007)

Yes, Robin Beck will always been known as the singer of the song from the cola advert, but she should be known for this. It's a hundred times better than her 'famous song'.

Vanilla Ninja
Blue Tattoo (2005)

Vanilla Ninja are more or less or less a Euro pop group, but they let a few rock tracks out of the hat in 2005 and oh how we thank them!

Cher
If I Could Turn Back Time (1989)

Dianne Warren penned track that made Cher a full-on rock god(dess). The video helped...

Heart
These Dreams (1985)

Fantastical song about all sorts of utter nonsense, but it's fantastic and that's all that matters.

Alannah Myles
Black Velvet (1989)

Chart bothering track from the late 80's that sounds as fresh today as it has ever done.

Roxette
Listen To Your Heart (1988)

Good advice from the Scandinavian rockster-popsters. Especially if you have angina.

Divinyls
I Touch Myself (1991)

Best known for its appearance in the first Austin Powers film, don't let those comedy overtones put you off. This song is a great track by any measure.

Laura Branigan
Self Control (1984)

Brooding track with more cool than a big fridge.

Joan Jett
I Love Rock 'n' Roll (1981)

What can you say about this song? Such an anthem it'll give you sore nipples.

Elkie Brooks
No More The Fool (1986)

Written by Ross Ballard of 'God Gave Rock And Roll To You' and 'Since You Been Gone' fame. Great track :)

Vanilla Ninja
Cool Vibes (2005)

The song Vanilla Ninja entered the Eurovision song contest with, and might have won with had the second half of the voting not gone against them.

Bonnie Tyler
Total Eclipse Of The Heart (1983)

Cool song. Mental video. Favourite track on Singstar :)

Berlin
Take My Breath Away (1986)

Top Gun had one of the best ever soundtracks. This song was so good it even won an Oscar.

Just missing the cut, honourable mentions in no particular order go to Because The Night by Patti Smith Group, All I Want To Do Is Make Love To You by Heart, If Love Could Last Forever by If Only and Strange Machines by The Gathering.
