At Vance
The Winner Takes It All (2001)

Made famous by ABBA - There are a lot of Metal ABBA covers floating around. Few bands do it better than At Vance though.

The Poodles
Dancing With Tears In My Eyes (2006)

Made famous by Ultravox - More interesting than brilliant, this is a classic example of how to put a band's sound all over something completely different from normal.

Jaded Heart
Easy Lover (1999)

Made famous by Philip Bailey and Phil Collins (1984) - Just pips the Ten Masked Men version as best cover of this track.

Sargent Fury
Maniac (1995)

Made famous by Michael Sembello (1983) - Great song made even better with Mac and co. doing it.

View AlbumKillswitch Engage
Holy Diver (2006)

Made famous by Dio (1983) - This cover of Dio's classic track makes the original sound... just as bonkers as it always has.

Metalium
Thank You For The Music (2001)

Made famous by ABBA (1977) - The first metal ABBA song I ever heard and still one of the best.

Jaded Heart
Larger Than Life (2002)

Made famous by The Backstreet Boys (1999) - Hmmm, Backstreet Boys or Jaded Heart... It really isn't a difficult choice.

At Vance
The Logical Song (2000)

Made famous by Supertramp (1979) - Much better than it has any right to be, At Vance really are the daddies of the metal cover.

Tragedy
How Deep Is Your Love? (2008)

Made famous by The Bee Gees (1977) - As mad as a hyena with a pair of pants on its head, but even more brilliant.

Yngwie J Malmsteen
Gimme! Gimme! Gimme! (2000)

Made famous by ABBA (1979) - Recorded as a bonus for his best-of package, it actually turns out to be one of his finest songs ever.

Brainstorm
Amarillo (2003)

Made famous by Tony Christie (1971) - Fun, fun, fun! Yeah. we like this track. A lot.

Northern Kings
Don't Stop Believin' (2007)

Made famous by Journey (1981) - Their versions of Kylie Minogue's 'I Should Be So Lucky' and Lionel Richie's 'Hello' are interesting... but this is much, much better.

Disturbed
Land Of Confusion (2005)

Made famous by Genesis (1986) - Another track that's a country mile better than the original; oh what a difference a bit of heaviness makes!

Sargent Fury
Eagle (1993)

Made famous by ABBA (1977) - Mmmm, just perfect.

Raintime
Beat It (2007)

Made famous by Michael Jackson (1982) - This is so much better than the stoopid Fall Out Boy version.

Just missing the cut, honourable mentions in no particular order go to Paid My Dues by Jaded Heart, Lay All Your Love On Me by Avantasia, Rasputin by Turisas, I Turn To You by Wig Wam and Oh Come All Ye Faithful by Twisted Sister.
