> CYCLE SLUTS FROM HELL
This reissue of the Cycle Sluts From Hell’s debut album has been digitally remastered and packaged with new sleeve notes by Malcolm Dome. The group’s only record, it was released in 1992 and produced by Glen Robinson, producer of the 1989 Voivod album, Nothingface.
Cycle Sluts From Hell comprised of four women who made the likes of Lita Ford and Doro Pesch seem like the flag bearers for the Doris Day Abstinence Guild!
Queen Vixen, Venus Penis Crusher, Honey One Percenter and She-Fire Of Ice not only looked like the ultimate biker fantasy women but had the voices to carry their attitude way beyond the belief that this was somehow a theatrical spoof.
They were also backed by some of the hottest musicians around – bassist Tom Von Doom, guitarists Chris Moffet, Pete ‘Lord Roadkill’ Lisa, Tom Schoonmaker and Ash Gray, with Scott DuBoys on drums (subsequently replaced on the album by Tony Price).
This reissue serves as a reminder of how good Cycle Sluts From Hell really were – with genuine pace, passion and performance they stood for all that is best in rock ‘n’ roll. The album will be out on the 15th of February 2010 on Cherry Red Records.
Tracklisting: Conqueress, By The Balls (Dirty Version), Queen High Love, Dark Ships, I Wish You Were A Beer, Soultaker, E.R.K.S. (Dirty Version), Speed Queen (Dirty Version), Taste The Flesh (Dirty Version), Badass Mama (Dirty Version), Bloodlust (Dirty Version)

> MIND FUNK
This reissue of Mind Funk’s still impressive debut album has been digitally remastered and features 3 bonus tracks plus new sleeve notes by Jerry Ewing.
1991 saw the release, in chronological order, of Smashing Pumpkins’ Gish, Pearl Jam’s Ten and Nirvana’s Nevermind, which heralded the arrival of a new musical force called ‘grunge’.
Mind Funk was never a grunge band per se but they did release this, their fine debut album in March 1991.
Given the timing of the release, all eyes fell on the guitarist Jason Everman who had featured in both Nirvana and Soundgarden and, whilst this did help garner press interest, it did unfairly push them into the grunge arena.
In truth, they began life as Mind Fuck. Guitarist Louis Svitek had worked with fellow guitarist Jason Coppola in Chemical Waste and the pair had worked with bassist John Monte in thrash crossover band M.O.D. They were joined by singer Pat Dunbar from the straight-edge outfit Uniform Choice and drummer Reed St. Mark who had drummed with legendary avant-garde Swiss metallers Celtic Frost.
The band secured a deal with Epic Records who, hardly unsurprisingly, forced a change of name to the more media-friendly Mind Funk and they arrived in a blaze of publicity. In the UK the metal press, seduced by grunge, were eager to hail the band whilst MTV granted airplays to the videos for 'Big House Burning' and 'Sister Blue'. The album will be out on the 15th of February 2010 on Cherry Red Records.
Tracklisting: Sugar Ain’t So Sweet, Ride & Drive, Bring It On, Big House Burning, Fire, Blood Runs Red, Sister Blue, Woke Up This Morning, Innocence, Touch You Bonus Tracks: Bang Time, Velvet Jane, Surprise Touch
