The Las Vegas Sun is reporting recording sessions taking place locally utilising the talents of Paul Shortino, local cabaret star Carrot Top (aka Scott Thompson) and Vinnie Paul, drummer with Hellyeah and, of course, Pantera.

At the recent sessions, Paul and Co. turned up dressed as clowns to record the Stephen Sondheim classic “Send In The Clowns” for a new version of Scott's stage show at The Luxor... Also involved Shortino cohorts Ira Black (g) and bass player Tyler Burgess.

Two years after the highly acclaimed release of the In10sity album, Pink Cream 69 are back with two impressive releases at once. Vocalist David Readman, the guitar team Alfred Koffler / Uwe Reitenauer, bassist Dennis Ward and drummer Kosta Zafiriou have packed their DVD "birthday release" with an impressing amount of content: - the live concert from the band's 20th anniversary show in their hometown Karlsruhe filmed in January 2009; - the legendary Size It Up - Live In Japan - video from 1992, for the first time ever to be released on DVD, featuring the band´s original singer Andi Deris (now with Helloween); - a 55 minute documentary with interviews and rare footage - all 8 official video clips - bonus live material from the band´s appearances at Masters of Rock (5 songs) and Das Fest (3 songs) festivals in 2007.

The double CD Live In Karlsruhe, contains the entire Karlsruhe concert as well as two bonus tracks recorded at Das Fest Festival in Karlsruhe. "The two products" says drummer Kosta Zafiriou "give a great overview of the band´s activities in 20 years: the live in Japan video from 1992, this year´s concert in Karlsruhe, lots of Festival footage as additional bonus, all video clips the band ever did and an hour interview and backstage footage with the band members reflecting the band´s history - you can´t get more Pink Cream 69 than on these DVD´s! The concert portrayed in the Live in Karlsruhe night was a very special one for us - 20 years since the release of the first record, 10 studio albums, a concert in our hometown to be recorded for our first DVD ever! The feelings were overwhelming: A mixture between a nostalgic look back and the excitement about the night and the show to come. Simply great!"

And it gets even better: the new studio album is already in the works!

> MASSACRE RECORDS SIGNS KITTIE

Massacre Records announces the addition of Canada's Kittie to its roster for Europe, licensed from E1 Music. Under this deal, Kittie will release three albums for the label.

Kittie (Morgan Lander - vocals and guitar, Mercedes Lander - drums, Tara McLeod - guitar, and Ivy Vujic - bass guitar) has released four studio albums which have sold collectively over 1,250,000 copies. The band's new album In The Black is slated for release in Europe on October 23rd, 2009.

Kittie vocalist Morgan Lander says, "We are totally thrilled and honoured to be working with Massacre Records. We have been hard at work for the past few months perfecting our latest musical offering and are pleased with the final result of In The Black. It is everything that Kittie is supposed to be: heavy, fast, brash and nasty, yet at times introspective, feminine and emotional. One thing it is not, however, is compromising of the sound and style that we have come to be known for. This s*** is HEAVY! Our new label pairing with E1/Massacre will actualise the vision that we have held constant over the years for the band."

> DIRTY BELOVED DETAILS

Music can be a powerful unifying force at times bringing together the least likely of combinations. Such is the case with Dirty Beloved, an Ottawa based hard rock band whose members, despite having very different musical backgrounds, enjoy a unique musical bond. On their new album, Letters From A Broken Home the results of this bond are evident in vocals exploring the challenges that life throws us during our day to day existence balanced against a backing instrumentation that is a progressive blend of technical aptitude and melodic inclinations.

Consisting of Armin Kamal on vocals, Michael Hope on guitars, Todd Jodoin on bass and Neil Grandy on drums, the members of Dirty Beloved come from very different musical and social backgrounds. Armin, born in Germany and then raised in Montreal and Ottawa, has been a voice in the Ottawa music scene for years. Mike, also originally from Ottawa and growing up in Barrhaven, has been playing lead from an early age with a focus on the styling of Satriani and Vai. Todd, originally from Belleville, arrived in Ottawa in ’98 from Brockville where he played bass supporting acts in the blues rock scene as well as delving into industrial electronica for his own projects. Neil hails from Halifax, NS where he enjoyed a number of years as a drummer in the metal scene before moving to Ottawa in 2001. In all cases the commonality exists in he deep inspiration that music has provided to all and the dedication it has received.

The band formed in 2005 and the first two years together were spent sifting through the large backlog of material orphaned from a previous project that Neil, Mike and Todd shared. Armin rose to the challenge of rewriting the lyrics for the tracks that were still aligned with the new direction and with some arrangement changes by the band to accommodate the new style, resulted in the 2007 debut release, A World Made For You. Armin says of this “It was an interesting experience for me; to actually come into an established band and re-invent vocal melodies and re-write lyrics for an entire album was something I had never done before. The guys were great, and it just felt natural. It laid the foundation for writing as a solid team for the next album.“

With that backlog effectively dealt with, the stage was set to focus on new material to support what would become this year’s Letters From A Broken Home. With Armin now fully integrated into the band, the songs took shape quickly. Mike comments “I think the band tried to make the best rock record we possibly could and still maintain that big groove oriented sound with some prog thrown in for good measure.“

Dirty Beloved is finding their audience through honest, intense music playing throughout Ottawa and the surrounding area. By writing and playing music that is genuine to the interests of the band as a priority, fans continue to be drawn in by the sincerity and passion. Letters From A Broken Home is a musical statement about staying true to your passions and life itself.

Tracklisting: 1 - Blind Eye of God, 2 - You Let Me Drown, 3 - Take Good Care, 4 - Why Would I?, 5 - Homebound, 6 - My Days with You, 7- Not One to Save, 8 - I Walk Away, 9 - Don't Want to Bring You Down, 10 - Star Requiem
