> RIPPLE MUSIC NAMED LABEL OF THE MONTH
From Ripple Music:
We're pleased, and quite a bit flattered, to announce that Ripple Music has been recognized as the "Label of the Month" across the NBT Network! Along with front page exposure, a number of the bands on the Ripple roster have been featured in review and on the networks podcasts. Not too shabby for a label with such humble beginnings!
Within a year of creating a solid business foundation and working long days and nights to streamline the production and supply of product, label founders John Rancik and Todd Severin have begun to see the fruits of their labors taking shape. On June 22nd, the label released their first album, JPT Scare Band's Acid Blues is the White Man's Burden, and were immediately inundated with orders from across the globe. Shortly after, Kevin Beadles (You Can't Argue With Water) and Fen (Trails Out of Gloom) were released, both receiving glowing reviews and critical-acclaim, and essentially completing the "first wave" of Ripple releases.
While the "first wave" was being managed, a project fell into the laps of label in the form of a split single featuring Stone Axe and Mighty High, which created a flurry of press, positive reviews, and internet banter. This project cemented a working relationship with T. Dallas Reed (Stone Axe/Mos Generator) who has now opened his vault of music to the Ripple Music, including the re-release of the first Stone Axe album on vinyl, as well as deluxe CD. Reed also took part in the labels fifth release, the re-issue of Poobah's 1972 debut LP Let Me In, by re-mastering the original six tracks along with twelve additional tracks that never made the original cut.
This initial success has brought on partnerships with a couple of U.S. and European distributors, namely Netherlands-based Clear Spot International, who is working feverishly to support Ripple Music and the great releases on the labels roster. So far, catalog releases have been sent to Germany, Italy, Australia, Japan, Sweden, Austria, and the UK, to name just a few countries.
Now, with Wave 1a nearing completion, Severin and Rancik are concentrating on the second wave of releases, which includes the third full length album from the Americana/Rock trio, Modern Day Moonshine (Refuge), the re-release of Sketches From Silence from the Santa Barbara-based rockers Tripdavon, and the first new release in over forty years from proto-metal overlords, Iron Claw. Tack on other projects such as a new Stone Axe LP, a re-release of the first Mos Generator album with bonus material, a new Poobah album, as well as a number of single and compilation releases, 2011 is going to be a monstrous year for Ripple Music.

> NEW MY SILENT WAKE ALBUM
My Silent Wake was formed from the dying embers of Ashen Mortality in May 2005 by Ian Arkley (Seventh Angel, Ashen Mortality, Century Sleeper, Paramaecium, The Other Window). He was joined by ex members of Ashen Mortality, Andi Lee and Jasen Whyte (Bloodwork), and also Alan Southorn (The Other Window) Kate Hamilton joined just prior to the recording of the debut album. In 2007 Steve Allan joined on drums.
In June 2005 the first recording took place at Kewsound in North Somerset. The 2 song EP which comprises over 16 mins of music was recorded in just 10 hours. One of the songs from the EP 'Encircle' appeared on the cover CD of the Nov/ Dec edition of Zero Tolerance magazine and positive reviews appeared in many magazines and webzines inc. Terrorizer, Hellride, and Zero Tolerance.
In November 2005 My Silent Wake recorded their debut full length album (again at Kewsound). The album was recorded in just 4 and a half days and with the inclusion of the EP tracks weighs in at over 79 mins of music. The artwork was created by Rex Zachary, who has worked on albums by Opeth (Deliverance) among others.
After work on Shadow of Sorrow was complete, drummer Jasen Whyte began to suffer from a painful wrist injury which meant that playing live was not an option. The band decided to use the time to write and record the follow up to SoS. During early 2006 My Silent Wake began working on an ambitious double album project, the first part of which built on the sound that they had developed since their formation. The second part aimed to capture a different mood, using almost entirely acoustic instruments and largely recorded live in the studio. The songs showcase the musical abilities of the band, and the more reflective and diverse set of songs are equally heavy in their own way as the more traditional metal songs of the first part. The resulting double album "The Anatomy of Melancholy" was released by Bombworks records on the 24th of April 2007, and pre-shown to the audience at the 2007 Elements of Rock Festival in Uster, Switzerland, where MSW made their debut live performance using Steve Allan on drums (Steve co-produced and engineered both albums). Jasen continued as a member of the band contributing joint vocals live and an increasing number of vocal parts on the CDs. Steve became a full member of the band and Steve and Jasen both played drums on the follow-up to The Anatomy of Melancholy, which was recorded in a few days at the start of March '08.
During 2007 My Silent Wake filmed two promo videos for a future DVD release with director Andrew Spencer. These can now be seen on YouTube. In the autumn, the band completed a tour with The Drowning and they also played Nordic fest in Oslo, Norway.
2008, saw My Silent Wake play their first London gig with Norway's Drottnar and the recording of the third album 'A Garland of Tears', which was released on CD and Vinyl. The artwork for the new album was created by Matt Vickerstaff of Darkwave Art who has created covers for My Dying Bride amongst many others. My Silent Wake toured again with The Drowning, and also with The Prophecy this time - two of the best doom/death bands in the UK. They also played again at Nordic Fest along with Ian's re-formed Seventh Angel. The band also recorded a cover of Attrition's 'Two Gods' for an Attrition tribute album which is now released.
My Silent Wake recently released a split album with The Drowning, again featuring cover art by Darkwave Art. Some future plans include more gigs, a re-release of Anatomy and the release of a new full length album which was recorded last winter and is set to be mixed June 2010 and released October 2010. Release will be done by Dark Balance. Very recently Jasen announced that he was to leave the band, but will stay on until the end of the year. Steve and Andi are taking some time away from MSW and Seventh Angel's drummer Tank is now part of the band.

> WOE's QUIETLY, UNDRAMATICALLY RELEASE DATE
Candlelight Records today confirms October 12 as the North American release date for Quietly, Undramatically, the new album from WOE. Recorded at Gradwell House in Haddon Heights, New Jersey with additional tracking completed at front man Chris Grigg's BS1 in Philadelphia, the album is the first to feature a full band ensemble comprised of members from Absu, Woods of Ypres, The Green Evening Requiem, Infernal Stronghold and Rumpelstiltskin Grinder.
Formed in 2007, WOE originally began as a solo project of Philadelphia-based multi-instrumentalist Chris Grigg. Popular site Metal Review called WOE’s debut, A Spell For The Death Of Man (2008/Stronghold Records), “easily 2008’s most criminally overlooked album” while Mouth For War notes, “balancing technical mastery with desolate atmospherics, A Spell For The Death Of Man shears through the fabric of society with ferocious aggression and a hatred for mankind.” Teeth Of The Divine adds, “WOE turns out to be one of the very best pure black metal bands I’ve heard is some time. It captures the misanthropy, tortured melody, scarred atmospherics and introspective, craggy nihilism of the genre.”
Reveals Grigg, “Quietly, Undramatically is a major step forward for WOE. Not only is it our first release for Candlelight Records but the debut of WOE: the band as opposed to WOE: the solo project. The performances of Evan Madden (drums) and Shane Madden (bass) bring WOE to a whole new level. It is a much more mature album, featuring dynamics and ideas that WOE has never been able to tackle before. We are all very excited for this album's release and the subsequent live performances in support of it!"
Quietly, Undramatically is WOE’s first release for England’s Candlelight Records. The album reunites the band with designer/illustrator Justin Miller. "Justin and I have worked together on different projects for years now and he has never let me down. I consider his art an additional song on the album -- the most important song, the one that ties it all together. Sound is what I do, sight is what he does, and it is a relief to know that WOE's presentation is handled with such feeling."
Track listing for Quietly, Undramatically is: 1) No Solitude, 2) The Road From Recovery, 3) Quietly, Undramatically, 4) A Treatise on Control, 5) Without Logic, 6) Full Circle, 7) Hatred is Our Heart.
WOE will celebrate the release with a free performance, along with label mates KRIEG, at Philadelphia’s Kung Fu Necktie (1248 North Front Street) on October 28. For additional live performances visit the band’s recently redesigned site at: http://quietly.WOEunholy.com/.
