> FEN TRAVELS THE TRAILS OUT OF GLOOM

Vancouver's Fen Create A Massive Buzz Over Latest Album, Trails Out of Gloom.

Since it's release a little over a month ago, Trails Out of Gloom has burrowed it's way into the hearts and minds of practically all who have lent ears to the album, and Fen are slowly creeping their way into the social conscious. Fen's ability to weave gorgeous melodies with heavy and abrasive tones while soothing the listener with subtle ambient passages have endeared themselves with fans of progressive metal and rock, alternative rock, and even the more extreme metallic movements, making their music the ultimate cross-over phenomenon. The music has been compared to Porcupine Tree, Anathema, the more ambient moments of Tool, and the softer sounds of Opeth, becoming an almost addictive listen in that most who have heard the album simply don't want to stop.

Here's what a few have had to say:

"Fen delivers a different type of "heavy" with Trails Out of Gloom. one that is dank and opaque, with plenty of texture and substance that requires complete digestion for your optimum pleasure. This is very much a classic '70's Prog Rock record that contains immensely crafted songs with excellently well written lyrics that also allows for the musical interludes to not be self indulgent, but rather an integral piece of the pie. There are no 12 minute overkill pieces here, but rather 6 minute voyages into remarkableness. And remarkable this CD is. This CD will impact you immediately, but the true brilliance of Trails Out of Gloom comes from further absorption. This is a stellar release." -- Sea of Tranquility

"Each note, beat and word that Fen create all have a purpose and as a listener you will feel that. They are great at constructing and building these simple pieces together to make fantastic songs that unfold like masterful stories. Indeed this album is a grower. I liked it on the first play, but definitely like more on each play. With each play I discovered more and more reasons to enjoy Trails Out of Gloom." -- Heavy Metal Time Machine

"Trails Out of Gloom is absolutely phenomenal, even with around seven albums in my queue to review, I still don't want to take this album out of my stereo." -- Imagine Echoes

And if all of these great words about the album isn't cool enough, Trails Out of Gloom and the albums first single, "Find That One," have been picked up on a number of radio stations and specialty shows, including WVBR 93.5 (NY), WKGB 92.5 (NY), WEOS 89.7 (NY), WKZQ 96.1 (SC), WCHZ 95 Rock (GA), WRN (NE), CILU 102.7 FM (ON), SRN Media Works (ON), MetalNetRadio.com, KHTR 104.3 (WA), KFEB 107.5 (MO), WJZJ 105.5 (MI), WPNH 100.1 (NH), KLHI 92.5 (HI), KOTO 105.5 (CO), WRN Network, WRIR (VA)

Finally, the lads in Fen haven't stopped working their creative magic as Doug Harrison and Sam Levin are hammering away at the details, story boards, and set designs for a video for the track "Miracle." Fen have enlisted the talents of the folks at Mind of a Snail Co. (www.mindofasnail.org) to create and control miniature puppets, which should add a somber and haunting effect, to help convey the story of the song. More information will become available in the near future as production begins to unfold.

> BONE GNAWER RE-SIGN TO PULVERISED RECORDS

Singapore-based Pulverised Records is pleased to announce the re-signing of horror/gore death metallers BONE GNAWER.

BONE GNAWER is the collaboration between legendary growler Kam Lee (ex-Mantas, ex-Massacre, ex-Denial Fiend), Rogga Johansson (Paganizer, Demiurg, Ribspreader etc.), Ronnie Bjornstrom (Hate Ammo, Ribspreader, Taedeat) and Morgan Lie (Naglfar).

Commented Lee of the new album deal and the band's upcoming recording: "It feels good to be back with Pulverised. This is the one label that has a true understanding of the type of oldschool '90s style of death metal we play. This time around we're taking another brave and bold approach to our musical direction and lyrical concepts. We always strive to go against the grain and not cater to modern trends, all the while staying true to the oldschool death metal sound. This time around we are going for a torture and vengeance type lyrical concept, although some of those traditional 'cannibal themed' type lyrics will remain. We are [going for] a grittier feel and a much darker edged 'grind-house' appeal to our lyrical concepts taking influences from some of the more hardcore exploitation type films of the late '70s such as I Spit On Your Grave and Last House On The Left. Musically we are retaining the horrific blend of oldschool death metal we are known for, yet combining it with an even catchier flair".

Further details on the follow-up to BONE GNAWER's Feast Of Flesh debut to be announced soon.

> ZEROPUNK DEBUT ALBUM THIS AUTUMN

Futuristic Electro-Rockers ‘Zeropunk’ release their spectacular self-titled debut offering through Futurebound Records and all major digital stores, on 25th October 2010.

In their powerhouse debut record, Zeropunk have served up a hefty slice of resourceful Alt-rock with a cunning blend of crafty synth work and infectious hooks. The quartet have soaked up stellar influences ranging from the progressive dynamics of Tool, to the innovation and guile of Nine Inch Nails, through to the energy and melodic aptitude of the Wildhearts. Zeropunk are here and have definitely set out to push the boundaries and command attention.

Formed in the backstreets of North West London just over 3 years ago, it all started with the brainchild of Jesse (Vox / guitar), who finally decided to form the band he'd always wanted. A band with a new distinctive, contemporary rock sound. He put out the customary advert for a drummer, and after many auditions he finally found one that suited the band's style. Together with Jesse's brother on bass, they formed the first line-up of Zeropunk. Although the formula showed initial promise, the band unfortunately split citing ‘commitment issues’ as the reason. However, head honcho Jesse Clark wasn’t prepared to let Zeropunk fall back into oblivion and decided to pick the band up again, aptly acquiring Frisco on drums and Gid on bass during the early part of 2009. The revitalised trio then added Axe-welder and synth architect, George, to the mix, which added greater solidity and depth to the band’s already expansive sound.

Now armed with a killer debut album that twists and turns, the four piece really have created an engrossing record. Right from the off, ‘Welcome To The Future’ is a blistering anthemic opener. As the album moves on, it unmistakably reflects the band’s melodic craft in the shape of the unreservedly tuneful ‘Rain’. Shifting again, ‘Rabbit Hole’ is a sturdy piece of cyber rock that blasts right out from your speakers.

Zeropunk plan a full UK assault in support of their album; look out for tour dates on their MySpace site.

The band’s 2006 Legend EP and 2008 debut, In the Shadow of a Thousand Suns (produced by James Murphy and featuring Emperor drummer Trym Torson) have now sold a combined 35,000 in the US.
