> IMPERIAL VENGEANCE ALBUM UPDATE

Not being content with just releasing a new album in the Autumn, Imperial Vengeance will be unleashing a “Penny Dreadful” mini-publication in conjunction with the album: ‘The Black Heart Of Empire’.

The Gentlemen had this to say: “The publication will be true to the style of the original 19th Century publications in length and layout and will contain ten dastardly tales of intrigue, phantasm and derring-do , and be beautifully illustrated. One of the things we try to do with Imperial Vengeance is to create an atmosphere, and merely releasing a CD doesn’t cut it for us; so given the darker tone and direction that the next album will take, doing something like this is the natural progression."

If you can’t wait for the album, Imperial Vengeance have just unleashed a special edition DVD of director’s cut videos and extensive exclusive extras that is available to buy now from the Transcend Records store: here.

This special edition disc features promo videos for the album track, ‘6th Airborne Division’, shot at the 400 Company studios in London and their Madness cover, ’Night Boat To Cairo’ plus tons of special features including audio commentaries by C. Edward Alexander and David Bryan, unseen production photo galleries, behind the scenes footage – ‘A Gentlemans’s Miscellany’ and ‘The Cairo Cutaway’ and exclusive footage from ‘The Harry Patch Recordings’. The DVD is available to buy now from the Transcend Records store.

You can catch Imperial Vengeance live when they hit the road with Sabbat in August:

17th August – The Well, LEEDS
18th August – Ivory Blacks, GLASGOW
20th August – Rock City, NOTTINGHAM

> ABIGAIL WILLIAMS ALBUM THIS AUTUMN

Candlelight Records today confirms September 28 as the North American release date for In The Absence Of Light, the second full-length album from black metallers ABIGAIL WILLIAMS. Recorded at Conquistador Studios in Cleveland, Ohio, the album was mixed by Peter Tagtgren (Dimmu Borgir, Immortal, Celtic Frost) and features artwork by Farron Kerzner (Nachtmystium, Lightning Swords of Death).

In The Absence of Light is true to the rules of black metal. The vocals are harsh and shrill, sounding like the product of a lacerated larynx. Guitars buzz, rip and roar alongside articulate, rapid licks and blazing solos. Drums slam and crash like exploding mortar shells, whether battering with blast beats, double-bass rolls or syncopated snare hits. And there is just the right amount of haunting keyboard washes, a noted difference to the band’s previous album In The Shadow of a Thousand Suns. Vocalist/guitarist Sorceron notes, "There is a lot less keyboards on the new songs. I like keyboards, but before we started this record we decided to get rid of a lot of them because we wanted to do something different."

The album presents new band members, guitarist Ian Jekelis and drummer Ken Bedene. Joining Sorceron after ABIGAIL WILLIAMS' final tour in support of In the Shadow of a Thousand Suns last fall, the trio quickly got to work writing material that would become In the Absence of Light. The album’s eight songs contain far more urgency then the band’s previous material; songs written exclusively by Sorceron.

"We let ourselves have much more room with writing this album, kind of a more open, free environment than any we have employed before," reveals Sorceron. "We literally constructed the songs as we went. Ken would be in the drum room and Ian and I would be in the control room and we just played for hours. We would listen back and pick out what we thought was good and we put songs together. We recorded everything with much more ease and I think it has helped in capturing a very honest vibe."

Formed in 2005, ABIGAIL WILLIAMS have been called "a buzz band," and "a band to watch." They have endured more than their fair share of opposition, including revolving door member changes and in 2007 altogether disbanding. But through it all, the core of the band has kept a level head, a steady eye, and an unbridled passion for what they do. The band’s 2006 Legend EP and 2008 debut, In the Shadow of a Thousand Suns (produced by James Murphy and featuring Emperor drummer Trym Torson) have now sold a combined 35,000 in the US. The band has toured exhaustively including their most recent West Coast headlining dates.

ABIGAIL WILLIAMS recently confirmed their first tour in support of In the Absence of Light. Kicking off September 29, the band will perform alongside headliners Immolation and Vader, as well as Lecherous Nocturne and Pathology, for four weeks. Tickets are on sale now.

Still riding high on the response to their 2009 self-released debut full-length Hour Of The Wolf, THE RESURRECTION SORROW continue their campaign of hard-ass work and self-promotion, loving what they do as a band and bringing their soulful doom-influenced rock to the masses. The band are working on more tour actions for the fall months, and have a ton of other plans in the works. Please stay tuned for more announcements in the coming weeks.

"Raised on swampy boogie rock, influenced by the plodding insanity of early Soundgarden, yet adoring the incendiary thrust of the NOLA heavy music scene, New York's Resurrection Sorrow have a ballsy fury going on Hour Of The Wolf. " - Exclaim Magazine

"This absolutely stays in rotation for me after this review is complete. This one makes good on the promise so many bands reneged on back in the 80’s and 90’s." - HellrideMusic.com

"Lots of thick crunchy grooves, teamed up with an incredible rhythm section, and almost hypnotic vocals really show off the musicianship of The Resurrection Sorrow." - TheNewReview.net

> TRUTH CORRODED'S WORSHIP THE BLED + GUEST MUSICIANS

Australian extreme thrash metal band TRUTH CORRODED are currently recording the band's latest album titled Worship The Bled. The album will feature two special guest musicians - Kevin Talley from DAATH and Jonas Kjellgren from SCAR SYMMETRY. Kevin Talley (who has also performed with bands such as MISERY INDEX, CHIMAIRA, DYING FETUS, THE BLACK DAHLIA MURDER) performs drums on the album with Jonas Kjellgren contributing a solo to the albums opening song ' Knives Of The Betrayed '. Jonas will also be mixing and mastering the album at Black Lounge Studio in Sweden in August.

Commenting on the involvement of Talley and Kjellgren, TRUTH CORRODED bassist Greg Shaw offers" To have Kevin and Jonas involved with the album is immense. Due to our recent line up change and inability to reschedule the recording we were really fortunate that Kevin could record the drums for our album, and his work is outstanding, completing what is the most intense music we have ever written. Kevin has worked with some very influential bands and his style is ideal for our sound. To have Jonas back on board to mix and master the album and also contribute a solo is incredible - he has been a great friend and offered great encouragement to the band. We cannot wait to hear the final result."

Since the release of TRUTH CORRODED's last album Upon The Warlords Crawl in 2008, the band have toured across Australia and Asia , performing in China, Japan, Singapore and Thailand, and supporting bands such as LAMB OF GOD, BEHEMOTH, ARCH ENEMY, DEATH ANGEL and SUFFOCATION. The band is now planning their return to Japan and touring Europe early in 2011. Check the band's website www.truthcorroded.com for updates on the release of Worship The Bled and upcoming tour.
