> WINTERLAND JOIN 7MUSIC

German rockers Winterland recently signed with 7Music. Friends and soul mates Thorsten Fries (vocals) and Markus Pfeffer (guitars) founded the band in Kaiserslautern/Germany way back in 1996.

Thorsten Fries is a classically trained baritone and reviewers tend to compare his undoubtedly unique and deep voice to David Bowie. Markus Pfeffer used to be a member of AOR-band Scarlett and Folk-Rock-band Wet Desert. Scarlett played gigs all over Germany, supported bands like OMD, Wishbone Ash. Fool's Garden and Pur, received airplay on countless radio stations and appeared on national television. Wet Desert also toured the UK, played unrivaled festivals and won several band contests. Winterland released five albums in English language receiving rave reviews both online and in countless international music mags from 1997 to 2007.

In 2008, Fries and Pfeffer met the challenge to start writing German lyrics. The new album Alles geht ("Anything goes") still includes all the trademarks Winterland, being an insider tip for over a decade, has been known for: gloomy vocals, profound lyrics, rocking guitars, epic keyboards and catchy, memorable tunes stylistically combining diverse influences ranging from Classic Rock and AOR to Gothic and Eighties Pop melodies.

Fries and Pfeffer grew up listening to many different bands and styles such as Magnum, Pink Floyd, Bruce Springsteen, Ten and Depeche Mode. Add some current German rock bands like Unheilig, Subway to Sally and Silbermond to the mix and you will get an idea of how Winterland's unique melancholic rock might possibly sound like. Winterland are coached by producer Stefan Glass (http://www.studio-23.net/), known for his work with Vanden Plas. Headcrash, Menschenskinder, Michael Spleth and Abydos.

The video for the Winterland's ear candy-compatible title track 'Alles geht' has already been broadcast daily on iMusic1 television due to viewers' requests for over a month. A new video for the ballad 'Strände der Einsamkeit' will be disclosed with the album release.

> THE TRADE DO FIGHT CLUB

The Trade is five young musicians hailing from the sleepy Scottish town of Forfar, who pride themselves on their stomping anthems that are 'fighting to get out'. The band is made up of Ross Milne on vocals, Bobo Martin on drums, Liam Moir on rhythm guitar, Craig Murray on lead guitar and backing vocals and Drew McLaren on bass and backing vocals. Having been together since 2008 they have established themselves quickly in the Scottish music scene and with extensive gigging they have fine tuned their music. Their sound is not to be missed and their live performances engage their audiences with their sing-along, clap-along anthems, with energy and fire that carries on long after the gig has ended.

It has been The Trade’s ambition to take their music along with their amazing energy to as many people as possible. Their massive and very loyal fan base continues to grow day by day and is a testament to their continuing hard work. In their time together the five-piece have already played in some of the country’s most prestigious venues such as King Tuts, The O2 Academy, ABC, The Doghouse, Cabaret Voltaire and Moshulu, and have taken their sound further afield with a tour of Ireland.

At the end of 2008 The Trade entered the studio to record the thirteen track demo entitled Empire. 2009 saw the band back in the studio to record their EP Breakdown, featuring indie stomper 'The Dealer' - the video of which received airplay on the digital TV service Virgin On Demand.

The Trade have worked with producer Jeff Allen (Mogwai, Franz Ferdinand, Belle and Sebastian) at CaVa Studios, Glasgow to record their new single 'Fight Club'. April 2010 sees the band begin work with Jamie Savage, at the prestigious Chem19 recording studio, on the recording of their album Lie In The Dark, which will be released on June 14th.

The album release will be preceded by a 14 date Lie in The Dark UK album launch tour, which will see The Trade take their amazingly catchy tunes nationwide for the first time.

> LIFEHOUSE DO SMOKE & MIRRORS

With Smoke & Mirrors, Lifehouse's fifth studio album, lead singer/guitarist Jason Wade, drummer Rick Wollstenhulme, bassist Bryce Soderberg and newly added guitarist Ben Carey, along with long time producer Jude Cole, have created a set that combines their live sound with great record making.

Smoke & Mirrors started out with a mission to capture the live, rock side of the band: a sound they had perfected after three years of solid touring. However, after living with the early tracks and experimenting with others, a piece of the puzzle seemed to be missing. Equal to their enthusiasm for the live sound, they also love to make studios records. After all, one of Lifehouse’s greatest achievements is the tens of millions of radio spins garnered over the span of 4 albums, so to create a record solely focusing on the sound from their show felt off balance.

A trip back into the studio to experiment in more of a 'record making' effort produced tracks like 'All In', 'Here Tomorrow Gone today' and the first singe 'Halfway Gone' co-written by Kevin Rudolf (Let It Rock).

Songs Like 'Smoke & Mirrors', 'Wrecking Ball' and 'Had Enough' (with guest vocals by Chris Daughtry) have a very raw and stage driven feel to them and certainly pay homage to the live show that Lifehouse is equally known for.

With this light hearted concept and fitting title, Smoke & Mirrors properly defines the best that Lifehouse has to offer, showcasing a rocking band with their 5th studio album full of new hit records for Lifehouse fans new and old.

Smoke & Mirrors is out on the 12th of July 2010 on IMS/Universal Music.
