> THE DUEL - UK ROCKERS RELEASE EAGERLY AWAITED ALBUM
The Duel pull influence from a range of arenas, but most notably from punk-rock icons such as ‘The Ramones’, ‘The Clash’ and the ‘Pistols’. Merging the raucous energy of true seventies punk with modern guile, and inserting current socially relevant issues, The Duel’s direct and engaging sound is idyllically melded and nevermore potent, given today’s present economic and social climate.
Originally born back in 2001 as a two-piece comprised of the powerful vocals of Tara Rex and the enticing riffs and grooves of keyboardist / bassist Andy Theirum, the combo cut their teeth on the London scene before expanding their line-up. The band’s very first punk show came when the Duel supported the mighty ‘Dead Kennedys’. Further gigging followed before the punk-rockers headed to the studio in late 2006 to put down tracks for their debut record. The Duel’s debut album 'Let's Finish What We Started', released in 2007 and 2009’s follow-up record ‘Childish Behavior’, both secured wide national recognition and many new fans. The band have also garnered impressive national magazine reviews from the likes of Viva Le Rock and Big Cheese magazine.
With a strong DIY and punk–rock ethos, The Duel are no strangers to transit-van touring. The irrepressible quintet have extensively toured throughout the UK, Finland, Switzerland, Holland, Spain, Czech, and Germany; they have also played the UK Rebellion Festival for the past five years, as well as the Rebellion Festival in Austria, Italy and Holland. The popular punksters took centre stage at Skunk Anansie’s and Primal Scream’s after-show parties and also played at The British Invasion Festival in LA. The band were also invited to perform at New York’s legendary CBGB’s and The Continental, just before they permanently closed their doors. Given the vast range and sheer amount of touring that the Duel have overtaken, it is no wonder that along the way the band have racked up supports with the likes of: UK Subs, Vice Squad, Angie Bowie, Peter Hook, Buzzcocks, Sham 69, The Vibrators, Dead Kennedys, and Angelic Upstarts, to name just a few. Now armed with a brand new album entitled ‘All Aboard The Crazy Train’, and UK tour dates planned for the remainder of the year, the underground punk-rockers are geared to amp up their already commendable reputation.
*THE DUEL RELEASE ‘ALL ABOARD THE CRAZY TRAIN’ ON 28th NOV 2011, THROUGH FFR RECORDS & ALL GOOD DIGITAL STORES*
Catch the band live: 8th October – Boston Arms, London; 9th November - 100 Club @ 100 Oxford St, London; and 12th November – The Fenton, Leeds. Further shows to be announced, see http://www.myspace.com/theduel for more.
> INTRODUCING... FRONTIERS (THE BAND)
“At some point the world is going to want another big, British rock band, and I think these guys could be it.” "FRONTIERS are the only band I’d actually be thinking to myself might be big in 2012" ANDY MALT – EDITOR CMU
Since impressing on the BBC introducing stage at Reading and Leeds aged 17, Frontiers have gone on to play at In The City, Camden Crawl, The Great Escape, Beach Break Live and Dot To Dot as well as supporting We Are Scientists on tour.
This August, they were handpicked by Jane’s Addiction themselves to open at their UK comeback show at a sold out Koko in Camden. Reviews have stated that Frontiers sound sits somewhere between early Cure and Interpol. However, influences range more widely from Muse, Radiohead and Bloc Party to name but three. Live, Andy Malt compared them to Muse and the Arctic Monkey’s but that was more to do with the fact he “was pretty convinced that (he) was watching Britain’s next big rock band”.
Frontiers are set to play a mini October tour:
7th October, Bodega Social, Nottingham
27th October, Thekla, Bristol
They then head down to London to support The Chapman Family on the 2nd of November in a free show at The Wheelbarrow, Camden.

> BYRON NEMETH TO PAY TRIBUTE TO JIMI HENDRIX DURING LA AMP SHOW
Scottsdale, AZ based guitar hero, Byron Nemeth, plans to commemorate Jimi Hendrix's burial date of Oct. 1 1970 during his appearance at LA Amp Show Oct. 1 and 2.
Nemeth will be heading to the roof of the Airtel Plaza Hotel at approximately 4:20 pm to play The Star Spangled Banner as performed by Jimi Hendrix at Woodstock and to light a guitar on fire in Hendrix memory. ""Honoring Hendrix by replicating his very controversial rendition of the Star-Spangled Banner on electric guitar is the most important political rock statement that needs to be done today to wake people up to new music," says Nemeth. "This delivery of screaming guitar and ballistic feedback will shock and inspire listeners to a new vision of what modern rock should be instead of the watered down corporate drivel we have been forced feed in recent years."
Byron will be representing Moore Amps and the company's new model Mooresound 1013 Amp Class A 20 Watt Single Channel All Tube Amplifier throughout the weekend.

> NECROCURSE JOIN PULVERISED RECORDS
Rising from the filth-lands of Uddevalla and Ljungskile, Sweden, NECROCURSE was spawned in 2004 with a penchant for all things brutal and ugly. Featuring current and past members of Nifelheim, Necronaut, Runemagick, Deathwitch and Swordmaster (among others), the band is now ready to unleash their chaos upon an unsuspecting underground via Singapore's Pulverised Records in 2012.
Comments the band in a collective statement: "The time has come for the death metal rebels to rise from the grave, and forge a full album release of the Metal of Death! NECROCURSE are proud to announce the collaboration with Pulverised Records for the upcoming, as-yet-untitled album. The release will be recorded during the coming winter and include at least nine tracks of insane morbid death…"
Adds Pulverised Records label manager, Roy Yeo: "Having NECROCURSE on our roster was an easy choice as the musical style and direction of NECROCURSE fits perfectly with what Pulverised Records is all about: quality and authentic death metal. We knew immediately that the band needed a proper full-length album to further showcase their devastating brand of Swedish death metal at its finest!"
In other NECROCURSE-related news, the band recently unleashed a brand new 7" EP entitled Insane Curse Of Morbidity earlier this month via Aftermath Music.
> OFFICIAL STATEMENT FROM EDU FALASCHI
"Dear friends, At last I would like to clarify some facts about my voice with all the sincerity, humility and integrity that I may have. For over 20 years I have worked without a day off in the Heavy Metal style, and we all know how difficult and technically demanding it is. Joining Angra I had to fit a particularly high way of singing, which was totally out of my range, and of the vast majority of the singers! At the time I took the responsibility and faced all the pressure. But 10 years ago it was much easier due to the physical factor, excitement and age. I started to feel, year after year, gradually, the difficulties of singing something so high and out of my natural trait. I fought to the end! I did everything possible to continue to sing the songs, particularly the old ones, always in high pitches, because the melodic metal audience has ever “demanded” this of us singers. But unfortunately, today, older and more experienced, I assume that I am no longer able to sing so high. I am extremely tired and feeling the weight of all that in my voice, including the region that has always been the most comfortable for me! I’m a baritone singer who dominates the mediums and lows, with drive, singing with a more aggressive chest voice, as I did in Symbols and do in Almah. I have conquered many things and built much of my story with my own style. Therefore, I made a decision, thinking only and exclusively about the health of my voice and integrity of my career, which I have built with so much struggle and dedication. After fulfilling all the promotional activities of MOTION, scheduled until the end of the year, I will stop indefinitely to finally rest and be able to deal properly with my health. But I have to point out that from today on I’ll just sing whatever is in my natural range, be it in Angra or any other band, for my own good! I want to be who I really am, instead of being what people want me to be! In the meantime, I’ll continue with my activities as a producer and composer, which are things I love doing, and will not harm at all the progress of my recovery. Thank you from the bottom of my heart to all the fans who always supported me and defend me unconditionally! I will always do my best writing and singing good music for you guys, with all my truth and emotion! This is the first step to a new time in my life! I have confidence in the future and will always be passionate about the greatest music ever, HEAVY METAL!"

> ELVIS JACKSON ON THEIR FIRST UK CLUB TOUR
Having spent the best part of a decade wowing European audiences with sell-out shows supporting the likes of Faith No More, The Offspring, Propagandi, The Vandals, Subhumans and NOFX, Slovenia’s biggest rock band Elvis Jackson are preparing a full-on assault on UK.
Slovenia’s Elvis Jackson now present ‘Street 45’, the third single to be taken from their album “Against the Gravity”. An original and interesting animated video for the song “Street 45” was recorded on an adventurous tour that saw the band take in Ljubljana, New York and Sarajevo. This music video captures the message of the song perfectly and takes place on the actual 45th Street in the New York City. Members of the band appear in the video as animated characters, and focuses on a victim of violence. In today’s fast-living world, one filled with contradictions, the band are commenting on how unimportant life can appear as we become merely a number – a statistic.
Created by the team at Knap Studios, you can view the video in its entirety here:
Elvis Jackson gained critical praise during the UK release of Against The Gravity last year, and the band will be gracing our stages again this October when they touch down for a week of live shows.

The diversity, dynamism and creativity on display across the 13 tracks makes for a superb introduction to a band that received an MTV Europe Music Award Nomination in 2009 and has been at the fore-front of European punk-rock throughout the noughties.
With a debut UK album release date slated for early 2010, the band are fully focused and committed to breaking into the UK gig circuit to showcase a live show that has seen them play over 700 gigs in the past few years alone and establish themselves as a band with an exciting future.
