Album Preview: The Horne Supremacy (2010)

For fans of: Rock

Lachlan Horne - The Horne SupremacyLachlan Horne has been playing guitar for more than twenty years and in that time has gained an enviable wealth of proficiency and experience beyond that of many professional players. Yet in all that time he has remained largely unknown - until now that is. Since the release of his first album The Time Has Come and his subsequent release The Horne Supremacy, Lachlan Horne is now gaining the recognition he deserves as a guitarist, vocalist and songwriter capable of remarkable skill and creativity.

Though primarily a rock musician he draws inspiration from a variety of musical sources and as a result has developed into a highly versatile musician with an eclectic style of song writing. Guitar-wise his greatest influences have been Jimi Hendrix, Joe Satriani, Paul Gilbert, Steve Morse, Matthias IA Ecklund, Frank Gambale and Jeff Beck, but he also draws inspiration from a diverse collection of more mainstream artists such as AC/DC, Van Halen, The Beatles, INXS, Steely Dan and even 80s funksters Level 42.

After picking first picking up the guitar at the age of fourteen he embarked on a journey of self tuition and experimentation that proved to be a valuable foundation in song writing ability and creativity. It wasn’t long before he began to feel the pull of great guitar music and eventually realised the advantages of combining the two growing obsessions - writing music and playing great guitar.

In 1989, to better his skills and knowledge, Lachlan enrolled at The Guitar Institute, London where he studied under distinguished guitarists such as Alan Limbrick, John Etheridge and Shaun Baxter. This resulted in a lifestyle centred around intense practicing regimes and diligent study in music theory and playing techniques - with little time put aside for anything else.

Lachlan has since developed into a self styled guitarist of remarkable talent. He has spent many years working on the London pub and club circuit performing in a variety of live acts including Too Many Words, No Idea, What About Us? and Funky Fluid. He has performed on numerous engagements with top UK session player and Primal Scream / Gary Moore drummer Darrin Mooney. He has also spent a year in Australia where he worked as part of the Queensland based rock band Club Crunch.

When he returned to the UK Lachlan took some time out from music to study for a degree at the University of Southampton but it wasn’t long before he was back doing what he does best. Now based in Hampshire, South England, he continues to write and record and perform his own music at the same time as fronting a Jimi Hendrix tribute band called Hendrix Gets The Horne. His guitar playing skills have established his reputation as a very high demand guitar tutor and when he is not playing he is managing a hectic teaching schedule.

After having spent most of his professional career as a sideman he stepped into the limelight in 2004 by releasing his instrumental rock album entitled The Time Has Come. This release proved to be a pivotal point in confirming Lachlan’s status as a rising guitar virtuoso. The album received rave reviews and the music has been used for various radio commercials, other media events and even as a theme on a rollercoaster ride.

His current release, The Horne Supremacy, is a two part album with both ‘sides’ featuring his vocal abilities as well as his already well established guitar playing skills. The album is stacked with quality hard rock, catchy riffs, heartfelt vocals and dazzling guitar solos. Both Side One and Side Two are currently only available as downloads.
